We don't charge for anything, and aren't making money off of some federal grant or anything like that. All our funding, like our volunteers is freely given us. We don't have the funding to spend on fancy programs, especially when there are free alternatives, that are just as good, if not better. Unless otherwise noted the programs are windows, though many do have Mac and Linux versions as well.

GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) This is a free alternative to Adobe Photoshop. It might not be as good as Photoshop, but it's a whole lot cheaper, with a price of free you can't go wrong.

MyPaint For the graphics as well. A bare bones image editor, really designed more for sketching, than full image editing.

Scribus For PDF creation and desktop publishing.

Blender For the computer animation, video editing, and special effects.

CSS Menu Program used to create the menu on this website. We use the free version, but there is also a paid version available.

Audacity For the sound recording and editing.

voodoo A free camera tracker, used to add special effects to videos after they were filmed. Only used this so far for a sample that had nothing to do with anything.

KdenLive For video editing. (Linux) We actually downloaded an entire Linux distribution just so we could use this program. We went with Ubuntu, and it's treated us well.

MakeHuman to create parts of the characters that were too hard to model myself.

SeaMonkey For the creation of this web site. SeaMonkey is created and maintained by the Mozilla Foundation, who also created and maintains Firefox, which is our browser of choice.

OpenOffice For word processing, it's a free alternative to Microsoft office, and it's nearly as good. There are a few more features in Microsoft office, but we'd never use them, and if you don't want to spend the money on Microsoft office, you should just download this instead.
